This question is borderline offensive! If asked, the average person would respond with a resounding yes! Who does not want to be better in some aspect of life? Atomic Habits was published in 2018 and has increasingly made its way into book studies, group discussions, business practices, and self-improvement groups ever since. “This breakthrough book from James Clear is the most comprehensive guide on how to change your habits and get 1% better every day.” The numerical value of 37.78 is not random, but actually the result of improving 1% a day over the course of a calendar year. In contrast, a decline of 1% will result in an individual being 97% worse off than the first day!
The title “Atomic Habits” within itself is simply brilliant! An atom is the smallest particle of an element, and described as the building blocks of all matter. So, since our universe is composed of matter, it is the smallest things that lead to the production of something great. Let’s apply that concept directly to the profession of Education. It is the smallest change or implementation of a new teaching strategy, mindset, or resource that can result in an exponentially improved life for our students! This change has to be applied consistently.
When developing the Next Level Students character development curriculum for students, our team of Curriculum Writers had the concept of “Atomic Habits” in mind! We understand that change can be difficult, however, sometimes bad habits need to be broken. There are some educators that are currently implementing outdated resources and teaching strategies simply out of tradition. It’s time to get back on track and focus on the overall growth and development of our students, because they truly are our future! Change and thinking outside the box can be difficult, but the beautiful thing about our curriculum is that most of the guess work has been cut out for you! If your school or district wants to design an environment that makes success easier, increase motivation, and see an exponential amount of growth, now it’s time. Its time to take things to the Next Level! Join us in taking a few small steps that will lead to great distances!
